What the Brussels office does Copy link
From the heart of the EU quarter, GDV’s Brussels office serves as the bridge between Germany’s insurance sector and European decision-makers. Our team:
- Monitors EU policy and legislative developments that affect insurers, from sustainable finance to digital regulation and consumer protection.
- Provides technical expertise to the EU institutions, supporting policy-making with proposals that are workable, proportionate, and support a strong, competitive insurance market, benefiting both industry and consumers.
- Builds dialogue and partnerships with policymakers, industry associations, and stakeholders across Europe.
- Represents the German insurance industry in meetings, consultations, and public hearings at EU level.
- Coordinates with GDV’s Berlin headquarters to align European advocacy with national policy priorities and benefit from the technical expertise of the German colleagues.
Our aim is to ensure that European legislation reflects both the needs of consumers and the realities of the insurance business, contributing to a resilient and future-proof financial sector.
