Closing the Climate Insurance Protection Gap – Risk Prevention, Resilience, and Natural Catastrophe Insurance in Europe Copy link

The Permanent Representation of the Czech Republic to the European Union in cooperation with GDV and the Czech Insurance Association (ČAP), will host a panel discussion on the role of insurance in strengthening climate resilience and reducing the natural catastrophe (NatCat) insurance protection gap.

The European Commission announced that it will present its Integrated Framework for Climate Resilience and plans for its Climate Insurance Alliance on 28th October 2026. We would like to take the opportunity to take a first dive into the proposals and discuss the latest EU policy developments and the contribution of the insurance sector to managing climate-related risks across Europe. Drawing on experiences and best practices from both Czechia and Germany, the discussion will explore practical approaches to narrowing the insurance protection gap and reducing the financial and fiscal impact of natural catastrophes on households, businesses, and public budgets.

Join us,  as we discuss the role of public authorities, insurers, and new technologies in preventing and mitigating climate-related and NatCat risks, improving insurability, and strengthening societal resilience.
